Yampa Valley Electric Association (YVEA) has established itself as a forward-thinking organization with a mission to provide clean, safe, and reliable electric services. Driven by their vision to build a brighter future for their member-owners, YVEA partnered with Powerful. This redesign project aimed to improve member engagement and streamline access to essential services.

SmartHub Integration for Enhanced Member Experience

Powerful made strides in enhancing the member experience on YVEA’s website. A key feature of this transformation is the strategic placement of the “Pay My Bill” button. Located prominently at the very top of the navigation, this button provides immediate access to members. Now, with just a click on the “Pay My Bill” option, members are greeted with a visitor-friendly dropdown login box, seamlessly connecting them to their SmartHub account. This strategic placement streamlines the bill payment process while encouraging deeper engagement with other SmartHub features. By reducing the steps needed to access important account information and services, YVEA significantly improves members’ online experience.

Increasing Program Awareness

YVEA sought to elevate the visibility and understanding of their Green Choice program. To amplify YVEA’s renewables initiatives, Powerful transformed YVEA’s Renewables page into a visually engaging narrative. Through animated numbers, bold fonts, and icons, the redesigned page breaks down YVEA’s diverse energy portfolio. This visual approach simplifies complex information. As a result, the visualized page successfully bridges the gap between YVEA’s environmental initiatives and the community’s understanding, propelling the Green Choice Program into the spotlight.

To translate this heightened awareness into active participation, Powerful integrated a visitor-friendly online form within the Green Choice section. This form simplifies the process of signing up for the Green Choice program, enabling members to join with ease. By removing barriers to participation and streamlining the sign-up process, Powerful has effectively encouraged greater community involvement in YVEA’s sustainable energy initiatives. Through these innovative design elements, Powerful has helped YVEA achieve its communication goals. Additionally, they have created a stronger connection between the cooperative and its community in the pursuit of a sustainable future.

Challenges

YVEA faced the challenge of promoting their main messaging goals-- Powering YVEA Forward, Operation Round Up, and the Green Choice Program-- without overwhelming their members. The key issue was to create a balance between informative and promotional content. The challenge lay in integrating YVEA's messaging seamlessly into the website; making them accessible and appealing, while avoiding appearing too pushy or sales-oriented.

Solutions

To navigate this challenge, Powerful integrated the Laurelhurst Promotional Blueprint. This blueprint subtly weaves YVEA's messaging into the homepage, focusing on narrative and visual engagement. The programs are intuitively laid out in distinct sections. Each section gives visitors a short description, photo and an interactive button that encourages members to learn more.

Results

The implementation of the Laurelhurt Promotional Blueprint presents YVEA's main messaging in a an inviting manner. The intuitive layout, enriched by this blueprint, subtly guides members through YVEA's main messaging goals—Powering YVEA Forward, Operation Round Up, and the Green Choice program—in a way that feels less like a sales pitch and more like an invitation to be part of something meaningful. YVEA's new website strikes the perfect balance informative content and visitor-friendly design. It encourages exploration and participation in a way that feels natural and aligned with the values of a community-focused co-op.
