Leanna Thesken’s journey into the cooperative world began with a spark of inspiration during high school, thanks to her involvement in the NRECA Youth Tour. Little did she know that this initial experience would pave the way for a bright and fulfilling career, deeply rooted in the cooperative spirit.

As a state delegate for Hawaii in NRECA’s Youth Leadership Council, Leanna discovered her passion for empowering communities and fostering connections. Her enthusiasm eventually led her to Kauai Island Utility Cooperative, her hometown cooperative, where she flourished as a Communications Assistant.

Leanna’s cooperative adventure continued as she honed her skills with the Pioneer editorial team, crafting compelling stories for utility organizations across the country. Alongside her editorial endeavors, she worked with the Pioneer Social group to curate engaging social media content that resonated with audiences nationwide.

In her current role at Powerful, Leanna is dedicated to ensuring every utility organization enjoys a phenomenal experience during the implementation phase of their web projects.
