Overview

About

Tri-County Electric Cooperative (TCEC) prides itself as a member-owned cooperative with a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for its member-owners. In an effort to amplify their engagement with the community they serve, TCEC partnered with Powerful. This redesign project aimed to revitalize TCEC’s online presence, making it a more dynamic, engaging, and informative resource for its members.

Building a Connected Community

One of the primary goals of this collaboration was to amplify community engagement. Recognizing TCEC’s website as a critical touchpoint for interaction with members, the redesign focused on creating a dynamic and interactive online environment. The dynamic news section on the homepage serves as a prime example. The news feed displays the latest updates, events and cooperative news. This feature ensures that members always stay in the loop, creating a sense of belonging and active participation in TCEC events and initiatives.

From Information to Engagement

Powerful strategically placed the Community section on the global navigation. This placement allows visitors to effortlessly locate the community-centric parts of the website, paving the way for deeper engagement and interaction.

Within the Community section, the Youth & Education page stands out as an excellent example of how TCEC engages with its younger members. Powerful visualized this page from mere text to an engaging, interactive showcase. Through the use of vibrant icons, compelling graphics, and an intuitive layout, this page educates and captivates TCEC’s audience; encouraging them to explore and engage with the Youth programs.

Bridging Awareness & Action

On the “Youth and Education” page, visitors find more than just information; they find inspiration to take action. With clear, engaging calls-to-action, members are encouraged to apply for programs or engage in further learning. These features transform passive consumption of information into active participation, enhancing the sense of community involvement.

Challenges

TCEC recognized an opportunity to further enhance its member experience by providing more immediate and convenient access to account management features. TCEC was challenged to remove any barriers to accessing SmartHub services. The goal was to make it as easy as possible for members to access their accounts, aiming for greater use of SmartHub across their member base.

Solutions

To address this, Powerful integrated a SmartHub login widget prominently within the homepage hero section. This thoughtful placement makes accessing SmartHub straightforward, allowing members to log in or navigate to their accounts quickly upon arriving at the site. By bringing this key functionality to the forefront, TCEC significantly simplifies the visitor experience, making it more intuitive for members to engage with TCEC's services.

Results

The convenience and visibility of the SmartHub login has significantly streamlined account management processes, making it straightforward for members to access their accounts with minimal effort. This enhancement also empowers members to take advantage of the full spectrum of SmartHub services. By placing this feature front and center TCEC effectively encourages members to become more involved in energy usage, billing, and more.

One of the standout features for Tri-County Electric Cooperative's new website that I absolutely admire is their illustrated footer. It's not just a design element; it's a storytelling tool that encapsulates the essence of TCEC's concern for and commitment to its community. The illustrations not only add visual appeal but also convey the cooperative's values and mission in a unique and memorable way. By incorporating this creative touch into the website, we were able to leave a lasting impression on site visitors while reinforcing TCEC's dedication to serving its members!
