Since 1952, Peoples Telecom has been a cornerstone in connecting rural East Texas. Recognizing the need to enhance their online presence, Peoples partnered with Powerful. Together, they aimed to transform Peoples’ website into a modern, mobile-first platform that would resonate with the cooperative’s heritage while catering to the contemporary needs of its members.

Mobile-First Design

Central to the website redesign was the implementation of a mobile-first design strategy. Being in the telecommunications industry, it was essential that their online platform mirrored the mobile-centric world their services operate in. Additionally, with a significant number of cooperative members using their phones as the primary means of accessing online services, it was essential that the redesigned website offered an optimal experience on mobile devices.

The mobile-first design ensures that the site’s functionality, layout, and content are seamlessly accessible and engaging on various screen sizes. Whether it be logging into their account, checking service availabilities, or learning more information, members can easily do it all with the tap of a finger. By prioritizing mobile optimization, Peoples makes a bold statement about their commitment to evolving with their members’ changing preferences and staying ahead in the industry.

Enhancing Member Engagement

Complementing the mobile-first design, Powerful implemented online forms. These forms were designed to facilitate an easy, direct communication pathway between the cooperative and its members. When members check for service availability in their area and find no options available, an online form automatically appears. This simple, yet thoughtful touch ensures that members are not left without options or assistance. For a cooperative that prides itself on connectivity and communication, offering an immediate alternative means of contact in the absence of service options demonstrates Peoples’ commitment to member service and engagement.

Transforming Operations

Integrating Crowdfiber into the Address Lookup Tool marked a pivotal advancement for Peoples. This strategic integration transformed their service delivery, enabling them to offer precise, location-specific internet and phone services. By tapping into Crowdfiber’s extensive database and API capabilities, Peoples now provides personalized solutions tailored to each member’s needs, redefining the way they cater to their community. The tool further simplifies the selection and sign-up process with intuitive, interactive forms, enabling members to easily express interest or sign up for services directly through the website.

Challenges

Aimed at transforming internet and phone service sign-ups, the development of the Address Lookup Tool presented unique challenges. This effort required navigating uncharted territory, demanding innovative solutions and extensive research and development. Another significant challenge was gaining a deep understanding of Peoples' existing business processes and substantially enhancing them through the tool. The goal was to go beyond replicating current functionalities, focusing instead on significantly improving the Crowdfiber integration.

Solutions

Peoples' Address Lookup Tool was developed by leveraging the capabilities of our Forms Web App, Google Places API, Geofencing, and the Crowdfiber API. Visitors begin by entering an address into the tool, which then accurately identifies the location and its corresponding geographical zone. Based on this data, the tool dynamically gathers internet and phone services available in that area from Crowdfiber’s database. It then presents these options, along with curated rate plans, through an interactive pricing table on the website. This design simplifies the website visitor's experience in selecting and signing up for new services. The Powerful Forms Web App is integrated into the tool to facilitate efficient and visitor-friendly subscription sign-ups, enhancing the overall functionality and making the process seamless.

Results

The introduction of the Address Lookup Tool led to significant operational improvements for Peoples. The precise location determination facilitated by Google Places API and geofencing ensures that visitors are presented with accurate and relevant service options. In the event of an API failure, the tool seamlessly defaults to Crowdfiber's address database, maintaining continuous service availability. The centralized data management within Crowdfiber reduces manual workloads and error risks. This comprehensive approach results in a more efficient, visitor-friendly, and adaptable service sign-up process.
