Meet Bowie-Cass Electric Cooperative

Established in 1937, Bowie-Cass Electric Cooperative (BCEC) serves an extensive community across multiple counties. In an effort to enhance their online services, BCEC partnered with Powerful. Together, they aimed to modernize BCEC’s website, focusing on visitor-friendly tools and timely content to serve their community better.

Elevating Engagement with Online Tools

A pivotal aspect of the website’s redesign was the integration of a Meridian login box. Placed in the top hero section, it offers members a direct pathway to manage their accounts, view usage data, pay bills, and access other services. By simplifying the login process, BCEC ensures that members have a positive online experience.

Visitor-Centric Design for Seamless Interactions

Beyond just a login feature, its strategic placement facilitates ease of use while subtly encouraging members to engage with BCEC’s online tools more frequently. This design choice echoes throughout the website, creating a platform where members feel supported and empowered to connect with BCEC.

Keeping Content Relevant & Dynamic

In a fast-paced online landscape, staying relevant is key. Powerful addressed this by implementing a flexible blueprint. The website’s Deschutes blueprint features a versatile action button set, adaptable to the seasonal messaging priorities of BCEC. As scholarship deadlines approach, for example, the ‘Scholarships’ button takes center stage on the homepage, ensuring youth can easily find and navigate to the information they need. Similarly, a dedicated news section on the homepage serves as a spotlight for the latest stories and updates, keeping the content fresh and engaging for members.

Simplified Content Management

Behind the scenes, the website’s back-end empowers BCEC’s administrative team to update content effortlessly, without the need for technical expertise. This visitor-friendly content management system ensures that the website remains a current and valuable resource for members.

Challenges

The initial challenge in BCEC's website redesign was to harmonize their existing brand identity with a fresh online experience. The iconic red color from BCEC's logo, a symbol of their identity, needed to be integrated in a way that was striking yet not overwhelming. Balancing this vibrant color with the need for a clean, uncluttered website design presented a unique challenge.

Solutions

To address this challenge, Powerful implemented a strategic design approach that leverages the red color from BCEC's logo. By selectively using the red, Powerful created a design that is both visually appealing and balanced. The red hue is integrated in key areas for calls to action and important navigation elements, maintaining a cohesive aesthetic. BCEC's new website now stand out as an immersive online experience that aligns with their messaging.

Results

The careful integration of the colors from the BCEC logo throughout the website achieves a familiar and cohesive feel. This reinforces their brand identity while enhancing the member experience. The overall design choices across the website contribute to a stronger brand presence and recognition among members. The strategic use of red aligns with BCEC's brand identity while serving as an effective visual cue, guiding visitors' attention to essential features and actions. The result is a website that stands out for its brand consistency, ease of navigation, and a visitor-centric design that effectively engages and serves BCEC's members.
