What to Expect and How to Prepare for Your Electric Cooperative Illustrated Footer

If you are considering adding a custom illustrated footer to your website, you’ve come to the right place. A custom illustrated footer adds personality and provides your site visitors with a visual interest that helps set the tone and aids in conveying your utility’s story. We’ve made the creation process a smooth journey. There are a few key steps in the process which help us make your vision a reality. The following tips will help you better understand what to expect in this process and how you can start preparing now. We are always available to answer any questions you might have along the way.

The custom footer illustration designed for our friends in the Michigan peninsula, Cloverland Electric Cooperative in 2020.

Expectation

Take a look at some of our previous illustrated footers and you’ll notice how they are creative representations of the community around the electric cooperative or utility. If you haven’t seen any, just ask us and we would be delighted to share with you. Looking at the details, you will see that the layout of specific features and landscapes are an interpretation of those areas. The elements are not necessarily made to scale due to the nature of the content and the limitations that would arise in the creation process. We strive to add the key features that you would like to see and make everything cohesive and aesthetically pleasing.

Inspiration

Do you have a vision for your illustrated website footer? Maybe you don’t know where to start? Either way, we want to hear from you. Inspiration doesn’t always come easy, but we are here to help spark ideas and make this process easy-going. Think about what your community looks like and what it is known for. Take a look at the following list and consider what some of your area’s unique features are.

  • What do your power lines / poles look like for your electric cooperative or utility organization?
  • What are some surrounding landscape features? Mountains, meadows or lakes?
  • Does your community have historic architecture?
  • Is your area known for its agriculture and/or farming?
  • What are some favorite outdoor sports or activities in your area?
  • What’s the vegetation and/or wildlife like?

Once you have an idea of these unique features in your area, find photos that represent them well and then save these photos to a folder. We will ask that you then share this folder with us. Our illustrator will pull inspiration from these photos while creating your illustrated footer made to fit your new utility’s web design best.

Process

As we get started, we’ll have a conversation to better understand what your vision is for your customized illustrated footer; after all, communication is the cornerstone of any successful venture. We appreciate clear instruction, examples and feedback for any particularities you have in mind. Once we receive all the information and content from you, we will develop a project brief. From there, one of our talented illustrators will begin the creation process. Once a proof is ready, our UX Design Specialists will mockup your new web design with the illustrated footer. This is where it gets exciting…
