Regional Pride Shapes Southwest Arkansas Electric Cooperative’s Website Design by Powerful

TEXARKANA, AR — Southwest Arkansas Electric Cooperative’s (SWREA) redesigned website places its rural service territory alongside tools for everyday member requests. Developed by Powerful, the site features online membership applications, reorganized navigation, and custom artwork representing communities across Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma.

The project focused on helping visitors complete tasks independently and reducing routine phone calls and email inquiries. SWREA also sought a cohesive design that reflected its employees, members, and surrounding communities.

“With this website refresh, the SWREA team was looking to create a site experience that was clean and streamlined yet true to their rural roots,” said Stacey Horton, Powerful project manager.

The website follows Powerful’s Ashland layout, which prioritizes common tasks. Homepage links direct visitors to bill payment, outage information, account management, service applications, and fiber internet. News and events sections provide access to cooperative announcements and activities, while reorganized menus group information by topic.

Powerful also converted select PDF documents into online forms, including the Membership Application. Applicants can enter their details and submit the form directly through the website without printing or scanning paperwork. Staff receive the information in a consistent format for review, supporting the cooperative’s goal of reducing questions about obtaining and returning applications.

The Membership Application collects sensitive personal information, including Social Security numbers. SWREA selected Powerful’s Premium Security to help protect those submissions. The service includes encryption for sensitive stored form data and options to conceal designated personal details in the website’s management area and email notifications.

The local design extends to a custom illustration above the website’s contact information.

“What brings the whole thing together is the illustrated footer that represents the farmland, rural communities, and electric infrastructure throughout their service territory, together making members feel at home,” Horton said.

Bucket trucks bearing SWREA and Four States Fiber branding appear within the scene. Their inclusion links electric and internet services to the rural communities they support. Flags represent all three states alongside the American flag, and burgundy and neutral tones carry the website’s color scheme into the artwork.

Together, the online forms and regional imagery address SWREA’s goals for practical service and local representation. The website gives visitors a direct path to routine requests while keeping the cooperative’s role in rural communities visible.
