THE DALLES, OR — Wasco Electric Cooperative is helping members do the math with the launch of its newly redesigned website, created in partnership with Powerful. Featuring an interactive Appliance Energy Use Calculator, intuitive navigation and refreshed content, the new site adds up to a more modern experience for members across rural Oregon.
The redesign wasn’t just a visual upgrade. From the beginning, the focus was on improving functionality and ensuring the site felt current and community-driven. “Coming from a Powerful site, they were looking for refreshed design that presents the co-op as modern and forward-thinking while featuring the community,” said Annie Watson, Project Manager at Powerful. “It was a pleasure working with the Wasco Electric Co-op team and helping them bring their website goals to life.”
Visitors arriving at the homepage are met with the top actions they’re most likely to need—paying a bill, starting or stopping service or reporting an outage. These key tasks are placed front and center, helping reduce friction and save members time. The site also updates automatically with Wasco Electric’s latest Ruralite stories. Through Powerful’s monthly content support service, print articles are converted into web-friendly posts that display in a news-style format. This keeps content fresh and reinforces WEC’s strong presence in the community.
A standout feature of the new site is the custom Appliance Energy Use Calculator. Located in the Rebates & Energy Efficiency section, the tool lets members estimate how much energy their household appliances use and what that usage might cost annually or monthly. Visitors can adjust usage details and receive real-time totals, which makes the tool both practical and easy to understand.
“The Wasco team had a true vision and plan with their content,” Watson said. “They streamlined current content and crafted new material to ensure members had relevant and up-to-date information.” That clarity and focus are reflected throughout the site, from simplified navigation to accessible tools that provide real value.
