SPENCER, IA – Spencer Municipal Utilities (SMU) has unveiled a refreshed website, designed in collaboration with Powerful. The updated site is designed to offer customers a more visitor-friendly experience, with streamlined navigation and a focus on the local identity that makes Spencer unique.
With a rich history dating back to 1942, SMU has always prided itself on serving the community with essential services while maintaining a close connection to the people of Spencer. One of the most unique features of the new site is a custom illustrated footer, which includes iconic Spencer locations such as the city’s water tower, the Clay County Fair fairgrounds, the Grand Avenue bridge, and Stolley’s Lake. Even the town’s distinctive streetlights are represented, giving the site a warm, community-focused feel that sets it apart from larger, more corporate utility websites.
“SMU plays an important role in the day-to-day lives of their community members, and we wanted their website to reflect that connection,” said Powerful Project Manager, Caleigh Pickard. “We worked closely with SMU to bring a sense of Spencer’s history and character to the forefront, making the site functional but also visually meaningful.”
