Powerful Helps Midstate Electric Cooperative Strengthen Connection With Members Online
LA PINE, OR — Staying true to its cooperative roots while embracing modern technology, Midstate Electric Cooperative (MEC) has launched a redesigned website with Powerful. The project enhances convenience for members while reinforcing MEC’s long-standing commitment to community connection and reliable service.
Serving more than 21,000 meters across four counties, MEC wanted a site that was intuitive and personal. Guided by cooperative principles such as Concern for Community and Democratic Member Control, the goal was to simplify everyday interactions without losing the cooperative’s local identity. The new design achieves both, offering clear organization, accessible tools, and a welcoming tone that feels distinctly Midstate.
“Midstate Electric had a clear vision from the start, knowing they wanted to completely reorganize their navigation structure, increase their use of online forms, and optimize their site for mobile use,” said Stacey Horton, project manager at Powerful.
Built using Powerful’s Halsey blueprint, the redesigned site makes it easier for members to find what they need—whether completing forms, checking updates, or accessing programs from any device. The built-in Forms web app lets members submit applications online, helping reduce phone calls and streamline internal workflows for staff.
“Through the use of our Halsey blueprint and the built-in forms web app, they can provide an easy-to-navigate, visitor-friendly experience across all devices, while streamlining online form processes for members and their employees,” Horton said.
The homepage now includes flexible promotional sections where MEC can feature programs and seasonal updates such as rebates, scholarship opportunities, or energy-saving tips. These spaces allow staff to refresh content throughout the year to keep information current and relevant.
“Additionally, the promotional spaces on the homepage allow easy access to Midstate’s most important services and recurring communications,” Horton added. “Overall, I look forward to seeing how this modern and welcoming approach benefits the communities they serve!”
A custom illustrated footer completes the design, featuring Mount Bachelor, the Deschutes River, and native wildlife that represent the heart of Central Oregon. The artwork gives the site a distinct local character and reflects MEC’s pride in the communities it serves.
The site combines modern functionality with the personal connection that defines Midstate Electric Cooperative, ensuring members feel supported both online and in their community.
