Powerful Collaboration with Arkansas Living Turns Heads, Wins Davey Award for Outstanding Website Design
Powerful and Arkansas Electric Cooperatives Celebrate Recognition for Digital Innovation
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS — Arkansas Living, the official publication of Arkansas Electric Cooperatives, Inc. (AECI), has been awarded a Davey Award for their website, designed and developed in collaboration with Powerful. This honor, recognizing creative excellence, celebrates the digital innovation that brought the pages of Arkansas Living to life in the online space. The Davey Awards, an international competition for websites that think big, is a testament to the power of creativity and ingenuity, particularly for smaller organizations making a significant impact.
The Arkansas Living website, which serves 17 electric distribution cooperatives and their member-owners, is an engaging platform that mirrors the magazine’s vibrant content. Since its launch, the site has provided a seamless digital experience, allowing readers to explore familiar features such as “Worth the Drive,” “Cooperative Difference,” “Gardening with Janet,” “Let’s Eat,” Exclusive Web Recipes, and “Around Arkansas”—a calendar of local events. This consistency between the print and digital versions of the magazine was central to the website project’s design and development.
Caleigh Pickard, Senior Project Manager at Powerful, who led the development of the Arkansas Living website, reflected on the personal significance of this project. Raised in Arkansas, Caleigh has been involved with electric cooperatives since her high school years, when she participated in the NRECA Youth Tour sponsored by First Electric Cooperative. She later became the Youth Leadership Council delegate representing Arkansas at the NRECA annual meeting, which led to her being featured on the cover of Arkansas Living.
“Working on the Arkansas Living website has been one of the most meaningful projects of my career,” said Pickard. “This publication is not only important to Arkansas’s electric cooperatives but also to me personally, having been a part of the magazine as a student. The opportunity to bring its content to life online, in a way that echoes the magazine’s familiar pages, was an absolute honor. Receiving the Davey Award shows the power of what a great partnership between AECI and Powerful can achieve.”
