Powerful Builds and Designs Accessible Broadband Website for Wave Rural Connect
OZARK, AR — A redesigned website from Wave Rural Connect and Powerful is redefining rural broadband in Arkansas. Accessible by design and built to engage, the platform guides members through broadband choices with clarity while reflecting the cooperative’s mission to connect every home and business across the River Valley.
Wave Rural Connect, powered by Arkansas Valley Electric Cooperative, was created to bring high-speed fiber internet to rural Arkansas. The cooperative’s broadband expansion mirrors the vision that first brought electricity to the region more than 80 years ago: modern infrastructure that strengthens local communities and supports long-term growth.
The redesigned website supports that vision with tools that simplify complex decisions. An interactive speed calculator helps visitors answer the question, “How much speed do I need?” Members can input details such as household size, devices in use, and activities like streaming or gaming. The calculator then recommends the most suitable plan based on actual usage. By offering a straightforward path to answers, the tool reduces the need for phone calls and emails while giving members confidence in their choices.
The site also features Powerful’s Rate Plans app, which organizes internet packages into a clear, mobile-friendly layout. Each plan includes FCC-compliant broadband labels that display key details such as pricing and speeds. Members can compare options side by side without confusion, moving seamlessly from the calculator to the plan that fits their needs.
“The Wave team came to the table with a clear goal to have a website that maximizes website visitor engagement while focusing on accessibility,” said Annie Watson, Project Manager at Powerful.
Accessibility was central to the project. At launch, the site meets WCAG standards to ensure equal access for all visitors. To prepare Wave for long-term success, Wave’s staff participated in an Accessibility Consulting and Training session with Powerful. The in-depth webinar introduced practical tools and best practices for maintaining compliance as new content is added over time. This training ensures accessibility remains a priority well beyond launch.
“The promotional-based blueprint provides dedicated space on the homepage for Wave to spotlight packages and services, as well as increase the use of online tools,” Watson said. “With defined goals and a stunning color palette, this site turned out beautifully!”
The new website reflects both progress and connection. By combining accessible design with intuitive tools, Wave Rural Connect now offers members a digital experience that matches the strength of its fiber broadband network.
