Ocmulgee EMC & Powerful Celebrate Local Roots Through Launch of New Website Design
EASTMAN, GA — Ocmulgee Electric Membership Corporation (Ocmulgee EMC) partnered with Powerful to launch a redesigned website that makes essential information easy to find while reflecting the cooperative’s connection to central Georgia.
Founded in 1938, Ocmulgee EMC serves members across Bleckley, Dodge, Laurens, Pulaski and Telfair counties. The member-owned cooperative approached the redesign with a clear set of goals: simplify navigation, share timely information, encourage engagement and feature the communities at the heart of its work.
“With their goal of keeping members informed with an easy-to-use website, we felt that Ocmulgee EMC would benefit from using one of our task-oriented blueprints,” said Stacey Horton, project manager at Powerful.
The homepage gives visitors direct access to common tasks, including paying a bill, checking outage information, signing up for service, learning about Operation Round Up and reviewing electrical safety guidance. A prominent news section also gives Ocmulgee EMC a visible space to share current updates with members.
“Upon landing on the homepage, site visitors immediately have access to the top tasks they could be trying to complete, allowing them to access the pages they need much quicker,” Horton said.
The website also highlights the cooperative’s broader role across its service territory. Visitors can explore Ocmulgee EMC’s history, learn about its broadband partnership with Conexon and find resources related to safety, peak demand, careers, leadership and community programs. Powerful worked with Ocmulgee EMC to curate several of these pages, helping the cooperative bring attention to important topics and create more opportunities for members to stay informed.
“For those that are new to Ocmulgee EMC and likely doing more scrolling, the homepage also highlights the unique features of their cooperative such as their history and their broadband partnership with Conexon,” Horton said.
A custom illustrated footer adds a distinctly local finish to each page. The artwork features the Ocmulgee River, farmland, wildlife, fishermen, a tractor, a silo and a nod to Middle Georgia State University’s College of Aviation. Power lines connect the landscape, creating a familiar view of the places Ocmulgee EMC serves.
“These elements, tied together with the community-focused illustrated footer, make the site feel modern, cohesive and at home,” Horton said. “I’m so excited for the team and their members!”
The website’s task-oriented layout, curated resources and local design details create an online experience that feels distinctly Ocmulgee EMC. The site gives the cooperative a welcoming place to share information, support members and celebrate the communities that have shaped its story since 1938.
