Keeping Connection at the Center
South Central Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (SCRTC) has spent 75 years helping South Central Kentucky stay connected, starting with a local vision for reliable telephone service and growing into a cooperative that now supports internet, TV, Wi-Fi and business solutions across 11 counties. As a nationally recognized Smart Rural Community and Gig-Certified Provider, SCRTC’s story is rooted in progress, local service and cooperative commitment. SCRTC partnered with Powerful to create a website that reflects that same momentum: modern in appearance, intuitive to navigate and ready to support timely, helpful content. The redesigned website gives visitors a stronger first impression of SCRTC’s technology while keeping the cooperative’s community-first identity at the center of the experience.
A Modern Look for a Smart Rural Community
As a Smart Rural Community, SCRTC already represents what progress can look like in a rural service area. Its broadband network helps communities, families and businesses stay connected, innovate and thrive. The redesigned website needed to reflect that same forward-looking mindset from the moment visitors arrived.
Powerful implemented the Springwater promotional blueprint to give SCRTC a refreshed and confident design foundation. The homepage introduces fiber internet with bold messaging, a defined color palette, circular imagery and direct pathways to key services such as Internet, TV, Wi-Fi, Support and Pay Bill. The layout gives visitors a quick understanding of what SCRTC offers without requiring them to dig through long pages or guess where to go next.
The design also helps SCRTC communicate with clarity. Promotional sections highlight Fiber Internet Plans, My Stream TV, news updates and cooperative stats in a way that feels organized and approachable. Brief text, engaging headings, service-focused imagery and clear buttons work together to guide visitors toward the information they need. For a cooperative known for reliable fiber technology, the website now makes a first impression that feels current, capable and ready for what comes next.
That modern impression still feels grounded in SCRTC’s community. Powerful’s custom illustrated footer brings in familiar landmarks, local scenery and regional details, including Mammoth Cave National Park, camping, water recreation, cattle, the Barren County Courthouse, the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace and SCRTC’s own bucket truck. This detail gives the website a strong sense of place. It reminds visitors that SCRTC may be forward-thinking, but it remains deeply connected to the people, places and everyday life it serves.
Helpful Content for Everyday Connectivity
SCRTC offers a wide range of services, which means its website needs to do more than list information. It needs to help visitors understand which solutions fit their homes, businesses and daily routines. To support SCRTC’s goal of featuring up-to-date content, Powerful visualized key service pages, including Home Wi-Fi Solutions, My Stream TV and Business Wi-Fi Solutions.
These pages were strong candidates for visualization because each service includes details that benefit from structure and guidance. Instead of presenting long blocks of text, the redesigned pages organize information with icons, content sections, images and clear next steps. A visitor exploring Home Wi-Fi Solutions can move through the benefits in a more natural way. Someone reviewing My Stream TV can quickly understand how it works as an alternative to traditional TV. A business visitor can see how SCRTC’s Wi-Fi solutions support reliable connectivity across different needs.
This approach helps SCRTC keep valuable information visible and digestible. Visualized pages give the cooperative room to explain services with helpful context while still keeping the experience easy to follow. The content feels active, current and connected to the questions visitors are likely asking, rather than tucked away in dense paragraphs.
The overall impact is a website that helps SCRTC communicate its services with more confidence. Visitors are more likely to engage with information when it feels guided, relevant and easy to scan. For SCRTC, that means up-to-date content does more than sit on the page. It helps members and customers understand their options, make informed decisions and get more value from the cooperative’s services.
Challenges
SCRTC wanted its website to feel intuitive by centering the experience around members’ real internet needs. Fiber service is personal, and each household connects differently. One member may need reliable speed for remote work, video calls, smart home devices and streaming across several rooms. Another may simply want a dependable connection for email, online billing, video chats and everyday browsing. With multiple plan options available, SCRTC had an opportunity to make those choices feel guided instead of overwhelming. That guidance needed to reflect SCRTC’s cooperative role. As a member-focused organization, SCRTC’s website could do more than present plans and prices. It needed to anticipate common questions, help members understand the differences between options and reassure them that there is no one-size-fits-all answer. The goal was to create a path that felt proactive, practical and personal, giving members confidence before they ever picked up the phone or reached out for support.
Solutions
Powerful shaped the Fiber Internet Plans page around lifestyle-based decision-making. Instead of leading with speed alone, the page presents plan categories such as Power Home, Work, Stream, Play and Everyday Living. These labels help members quickly connect each option to familiar routines, whether they have a highly connected household, rely on internet for work and school, or need a simple connection for staying in touch. The page also pairs each plan with concise descriptions, clear pricing and broadband facts, giving members helpful details without making the page feel crowded. The “Help Me Choose!” button adds a thoughtful layer of guidance for members who still feel unsure. This button leads to the “How Much Speed Do I Need” form, which turns plan selection into a simple, step-by-step experience. Members answer questions about how many people live in the home, how many devices connect to the internet and what those devices are needed for, such as streaming, gaming, working from home, schoolwork or everyday browsing.
The form’s conditional logic helps make the experience feel tailored. As members answer, the form responds based on their selections and ultimately recommends the plans that best align with their lifestyle. That functionality gives SCRTC a more intuitive way to guide members through fiber options while still keeping the experience approachable. They can follow the prompts, answer in plain language and receive direction that feels relevant to their home.
Results
This guided experience helps SCRTC make fiber internet feel more personal and intuitive from the start. Members can compare plans through the lens of their own routines instead of sorting through speeds and features on their own. By asking about people, devices and online activities, the “How Much Speed Do I Need” form reinforces that the right plan depends on how members actually live, work and connect. That support helps reduce uncertainty, gives members a clear next step and reflects SCRTC’s cooperative role as a trusted resource for South Central Kentucky.Mobile gallery
