Known for their commitment to innovation and customer service, MID sought to enhance their online presence to better serve their customers. Partnering with Powerful, MID aimed to create a visitor-friendly, secure, and efficient website.
Advanced Weather Widget
MID holds a vast collection of weather and waterway data dating back to the 1800s. The goal was to make this valuable information readily accessible to the local agricultural community and other stakeholders through the website. Powerful integrated a sophisticated weather widget that provides real-time weather updates and historical data. By implementing a modern REST API and in-browser JavaScript, the new widget ensures fast and reliable access to vital weather information.
The weather widget transforms how visitors access MID’s historical and real-time weather data. This enhancement supports the local agricultural community and other stakeholders who rely on this data for their operations, reinforcing MID’s role as a valuable resource in the community.
Robust Security Measures
With increasing concerns over data security, MID aimed to implement robust security measures to protect personal information and ensure safe online interactions for their customers.
Understanding the importance of safeguarding sensitive data, Powerful incorporated advanced security protocols into the new website. This includes encrypted fields for personal data collected via web forms and Microsoft 365 SSO for secure login management. The encryption strategies ensure that sensitive data remains protected, with regular key updates to enhance security further. Additionally, the system employs both symmetric (AES-256) and asymmetric (elliptic curve) encryption methods, providing multiple layers of protection.
In addition to these measures, MID has implemented a system for key rotation, which minimizes the amount of data encrypted under any single key, effectively reducing the risk in case of a breach. The separation of keys from the data and their frequent updates ensure that even if data is compromised, it remains inaccessible without the proper keys. This robust security framework demonstrates MID’s commitment to maintaining a safe and reliable online environment for all.

Given MID’s prominent focus on irrigation and water services, we infused the design with nods to water, using wavy elements to evoke a sense of fluidity and movement. This not only enhanced the aesthetic appeal but also reinforced the thematic relevance. The dynamic design elements create a cohesive and visually stimulating user journey, reflecting the essential nature of water in MID’s services. Overall, the redesign ensures that visitors can effortlessly access vital information while enjoying an engaging and intuitive interface!
