Overview

About

Grays Harbor Public Utility District (PUD) prides themselves on their slogan, “It’s Your PUD!”. With a passionate commitment to their 44,000+ customers, Grays Harbor PUD sought a new website that reflects their commitment to their customers. By prioritizing the unique needs of each and every Grays Harbor PUD customer, the new website ensured a positive and humanized web experience for all.

The Value of Public Power

Grays Harbor PUD is much more than just an energy provider. Their state-of-the art services enable growth within their community; driving progress while celebrating their rich histories. Because public power is extremely valuable, its importance needed to be communicated effectively online. Powerful and Grays Harbor PUD kept the heart of public power at the foundation of the redesign process.

Content Visualization

The website redesign process prioritized customer engagement. In order to communicate informative and engaging content, the Powerful Web team strategically broke down large chunks of information into easily digestible pieces. The visualized pages feature graphics, bold headers, and more. As a result, Grays Harbor PUD’s new website draws customers in.

Challenges

After analyzing their services, Grays Harbor PUD knew they could go above and beyond the needs of their customers by systematizing their forms processes. Grays Harbor PUD challenged their staff and customers to shift from a well-known paper/PDF system, into a new and modern online system of forms.

Solutions

Through the improved process of online forms, Grays Harbor PUD customers can easily submit forms online without the hassle of paper or PDFs. By converting PDF forms and applications into online forms, the process is now streamlined for both Grays Harbor PUD customers and staff members.

Results

Grays Harbor PUD's new website offers exceptional online services to its customers through a streamlined process. With easy access to important forms and information, both Grays Harbor customers and staff can effectively accomplish tasks needed.

Better customer access to information and services was the main motivator behind the new Grays Harbor PUD website and we achieved that goal. At a time when people can do so much business from their phone or computer, having a site that allows them to do that is very important. Whether it be filling out forms, learning more about their energy usage, or applying for energy rebates, the PUD’s new site makes it easier for customers to handle their PUD business. In addition, PUD staff continue to quickly get newly entered information into the utility system and get the lights on for customers or handle any other service requests. Overall, it’s just a great service for our utility to offer.

Ian Cope

Communications & Government Relations Director

The most rewarding part of the project coming to life was seeing the streamlined process improvements within the PUD. The new website helped the organization evolve, with customers now able to initiate requests to start, stop and transfer service. The utilization of online forms has empowered their audience to complete tasks on their schedule with PUD staff now able to process the requests with a higher level of efficiency. Within the first six months that the website has been live, nearly 1,000 customers have utilized the tools to establish new electric service at their home or business.
