Meet Graham County Electric Cooperative
Graham County Electric Cooperative (GCEC) is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for their members through reliable and sustainable energy solutions. To further their mission of community service and innovation, GCEC partnered with Powerful. Together, they aimed to increase member engagement and present GCEC as a forward-thinking, modern cooperative.
Boosting Member Engagement
GCEC wanted to encourage their members to take full advantage of SmartHub. The goal was to make SmartHub easily accessible and more appealing to utilize. To achieve this, Powerful integrated a login widget directly into the homepage hero section, making SmartHub an immediate focal point. This eye-catching login form, with prominent fields, allows members to quickly and easily access their accounts.
To further enhance understanding and engagement, Powerful created a visualized page dedicated to SmartHub. This page breaks down complex information into easily digestible pieces, using a layout that flows seamlessly with engaging icons and vibrant photos.
Enhancing Cooperative Knowledge
GCEC also aimed to improve transparency and connection within the cooperative by making information about their staff more accessible and engaging to members. Powerful implemented their Staff Directory App, a tool designed to intuitively display staff information. The app features a grid display with names, headshots, and titles of GCEC’s staff members. Each staff member has an internal page that showcases their experience and background, providing a comprehensive view of the team behind GCEC.
Challenges
GCEC faced the challenge of promoting Democratic Member Control, one of the core principles of cooperatives. GCEC needed a streamlined solution to ensure that their members could easily engage in the decision-making processes that define the cooperative model.Solutions
To address this challenge, Powerful introduced an online attendance form for GCEC’s Board Meetings. This form simplifies the process for members to sign up and attend meetings. By making it easier for members to register their interest and participate, GCEC creates a more inclusive and democratic environment. The online form also provides an efficient way for GCEC’s staff to track interested members on the backend, ensuring seamless communication and follow-up.Results
This enhancement aligns with the cooperative principle of Democratic Member Control by empowering members to take an active role in the GCEC's governance. As more members engage in these meetings, GCEC creates a stronger, more connected community.
