Strengthening Community Connection

Cookson Hills Connect is the fiber internet subsidiary of Cookson Hills Electric Cooperative, created in 2020 to extend high-speed internet access across eastern Oklahoma. Their mission builds on the cooperative’s long-standing commitment to improving lives and communities through reliable, affordable services. As their offerings expanded, so did their desire for a website that could better reflect the strength of their services and their values.  They partnered with Powerful to create a website that would be easier to navigate, reflect their cooperative spirit, and keep their community engaged.

Making Information Easy to Find & Understand

Cookson Hills Connect wanted to improve how key resources—like policies and service agreements—were shared online. Many of these lived as PDFs, which often required multiple clicks, downloads, or zooming to read on mobile devices. The team recognized an opportunity to make this content easier to access, navigate, and understand.

Powerful worked closely with Cookson Hills Connect to convert several key PDFs into structured, reader-friendly web pages. These pages follow Powerful’s STAR Standard—Searchable, Translatable, Accessible, and Responsive—ensuring every visitor can easily navigate and understand the content, no matter the device or language preference. Instead of opening a multi-page document, visitors can now scan sections, use browser translation tools, or rely on screen readers for clarity and accessibility.

This shift from static documents to dynamic web content supports Cookson Hills Connect’s broader goal of clear and open communication. Visitors no longer have to download and zoom in on a file just to find a single answer. Everything is structured with clarity in mind, which ultimately helps build confidence in the cooperative’s transparency and reliability.

Inviting Engagement Through Bold Design

Cookson Hills Connect wanted a welcoming, action-oriented space that guided visitors to explore their offerings—from starting service to understanding the benefits of fiber internet.

The redesigned homepage uses Powerful’s Laurelhurst Promotional blueprint to showcase key services like Fiber and Phone. Services are represented with a bold photo, a clean header, a brief description, helpful bullet points, and a call-to-action button that leads to internal pages with more details. This approach invites visitors to learn more without feeling overwhelmed.

This layout turns the homepage into an engaging launchpad for exploring Cookson Hills Connect’s services. Whether someone is ready to sign up or simply curious, the new design helps them find the right next step. It gives the co-op a stronger platform to highlight their value, and it keeps the visitor journey simple and intuitive.

Fresh & Local Content

Beyond featuring services, Cookson Hills Connect wanted to keep their content relevant and rooted in community. Regular updates and storytelling were key to keeping visitors coming back.

The homepage now features a “In the Spotlight” news section that highlights timely updates and local stories. Articles showcase how high-speed internet is making a real difference for rural members. These stories add a personal tone to the site while reinforcing the benefits of the co-op’s broadband service.

By sharing relatable stories and practical tips, the news section keeps the website content fresh and the community engaged.
