A Future-Ready Intranet
Central Lincoln PUD’s intranet serves as a crucial hub for employees, providing essential resources, information, and tools needed for daily operations. To leverage the latest web technologies, Central Lincoln PUD partnered with Powerful to modernize their internal processes. This collaboration aimed to enhance visitor experience, streamline content access, and support efficient internal communication.
The Tabor Blueprint: A Foundation for Success
With a vast amount of content stored within the intranet, finding specific information quickly was a challenge for Central Lincoln PUD employees. An effective search function was crucial to streamline access and improve overall efficiency.
The Tabor blueprint became the cornerstone of the design. This structured framework focuses on a search functionality, prominently featured at the top of the homepage. This search bar includes common searches directly beneath it, allowing employees to access frequently sought-after information with just one click. The search tool is designed to handle a wide range of questions, ensuring that employees can quickly locate the documents, forms, and resources they need.
Simplifying Complex Navigation
Navigating a large intranet with numerous sections and pages can be time-consuming. Central Lincoln PUD needed a solution that would make it easier for employees to locate information without having to dig through multiple layers of navigation.
To address this, Powerful implemented mega menus, which provide a comprehensive overview of available content at a glance. These expandable menus categorize information into logical groups, allowing employees to quickly identify and access the section they need. Each menu item is clearly labeled, and the structure is designed to be intuitive, reducing the learning curve for new visitors.
Challenges
Beyond enhancing usability and modernity, Central Lincoln PUD faced the challenge of creating a sense of warmth and familiarity for their employees. The goal was to make the intranet feel like a welcoming space, reflecting the PUD's unique service territory. Since employees rely on this platform daily for accessing resources and information, it was crucial to design an intranet that felt personal and engaging, making their everyday interactions with the site more pleasant and meaningful.Solutions

Photos of Central Lincoln PUD's picturesque coastline service territory were integrated into the design, adding a personal touch that resonate with staff members. The use of local imagery helps to create a welcoming atmosphere, making employees feel more connected to their workplace.
