The Power of a Promotional-Based Blueprint

Picture this. Your company is rolling out a new rebates program that, if opted-in, could save money for your members. Or perhaps storm season is coming, and you want to inform your members on outage safety and what to do if there are complications in getting their service restored. How would you ensure that as many people as possible find that information?

You could make a post on social media, which would come across some people’s feeds. But what about the people who don’t frequently go on social media?

Most of your members are already interacting with your website on a regular basis, whether it’s to pay their bill, report an outage, or to find contact information. So why not use that to your advantage to make sure that both new and returning site visitors are made aware of this information.

At Powerful, our promotional-based blueprints allow you to speak directly to your site visitors in an intuitive and engaging way.

What Is a Promotional-Based Blueprint?

Think of promotional-based blueprints as an advertising tool. But instead of being annoying popups that interrupt the task you’re trying to complete; these promos help guide you through the website.

Upon landing on one of these websites, you are immediately greeted by a promo section with engaging imagery to pique your interest. Alongside that, you’ll be able to find a short blurb describing the topic at hand along with a button to direct you to an internal page to learn more.

Directly below that, you will find what we refer to as “Call-to-Action” buttons. These are buttons that help complete a task, such as paying your bill. These allow returning visitors to get their task done but also signals to new visitors that there is more information on the homepage, and they can continue scrolling.

Central Virginia Electric uses the Bridgeport blueprint to promote more information about their cooperative, and provide easy access to common tasks that their members come to the site to complete.

As you scroll down, you will be able to find more promo sections regarding different topics found throughout the site. These are especially helpful for the most important internal pages, since you are not solely depending on visitors to find information in the drop-down menus. Giving them multiple ways to find information, increases the chance that they will find what they need.

Getting the Most Out of Your Promos

The first promotional section on your homepage is prime real estate. Everyone who comes to your site, new and returning, will be seeing this. So, you want to make sure that you’re promoting the most important material here.

Do you have a new energy program that you want your members to sign up for? Do you want your customers to understand the details of your residential internet plans? What about giving your visitors a chance to learn more about your company? These are all great examples to feature in that top promotional section.

Rapid Fiber Internet uses their top promotional section to encourage site visitors to explore their variety of internet plans for home and business.

Your second promotional section will live directly under the Call-to-Action buttons, so your site visitor will have to scroll once or twice to see it. Luckily, since those buttons encourage both new and returning visitors to complete at least one scroll, there’s still a high chance that both demographics will see this section.

With that in mind, think about what the second most important piece of information you’d like to feature here. Take into consideration that there still may be some people, especially returning visitors, who won’t see this promo due to it being slightly farther down the page.

Typically, when visitors interact with a website, they are more likely to scroll if they are new since they are likely trying to find more information about the organization. So, if you decide to add a third or a fourth promo section, keep in mind that they will be much farther down the homepage. Your returning site visitors probably won’t see them, so take this opportunity to cater to your new visitors.
