Cupcakes, Connections, & Charming Main Streets in the Hospitality State

Recently, I had the opportunity to take a road trip through a bit of Mississippi – And what a trip it was! What a fantastic chance to squeeze some dear friends, put faces to names, strengthen relationships, and, of course, bring along some sweet treats (in customized boxes!).

A little sweetness to go along with a memorable trip—custom treats for some wonderful partners along the way!

Cupcakes & Conversations

My journey took me to Dixie Electric Power Association in Laurel, East Mississippi Electric Power Association in Meridian, and the statewide association in Jackson. At each stop, I had the pleasure of meeting the communications staff and seeing firsthand the dedication they bring to their work. We discussed the impact of the website projects we’ve been working on and how they have elevated user experiences for their members.

Connecting in person reinforced why I love working with electric cooperatives. These teams are passionate about serving their communities, and it’s rewarding to play a small role in helping them achieve their goals through improved digital solutions.

Exploring Downtown Laurel

While in Mississippi, I was encouraged to explore downtown Laurel, and I am so glad I did! The charming Main Street, lined with unique shops and welcoming storefronts, did not disappoint. It’s easy to see why this area has gained national attention.

Luckily (or perhaps strategically), I was flying back to Minnesota, which meant I had limited space in my suitcase—otherwise, I might have brought home more than just memories!

A Meaningful Journey

This trip reminded me why I’m so passionate about the work I do. Beyond websites and digital solutions, it’s about building connections, understanding the needs of co-ops, and supporting the people who keep these organizations thriving.

At each stop, conversations darted from websites to community engagement to passion projects and family … and hit everything in between. It was a heartening reminder that at the co-op, you’re always welcome. And you betcha this Minnesota gal will be fixin to head back to the hospitality state again real soon.
